Father’s Day Weekend
The Hamilton Air Show 2012 is Father’s Day Weekend. It’s a great time for entire families to spend a fun filled and exciting day together at this incredible aviation event. Dads will love it!

John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport
The Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum (CWHM) is Canada’s Flying Museum, and also home to many vintage aircraft and warbirds, and the Hamilton Air Show.

40th Anniversary
2012 marks the 40th year of heritage flying in Hamilton by CWHM. Celebrating 40 years, the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum is hoping to make the 2012 Hamilton Air Show the best ever, and a very special aviation event for everyone.

Largest Gathering of Vintage Aircraft
The 2012 Hamilton AirShow is expected to be the largest gathering of vintage aircraft in Canada EVER! This special airshow commemorating the 40th year anniversary of CWHM will be one of the largest gatherings of vintage aircraft in North America, so you do NOT want to miss the Hamilton Air Show.

Avro Lancaster MK. XAvro Lancaster Mk. X
One of the vintage aircraft you will certainly recognize is the Avro Lancaster Mk. X. The Lancaster is the most famous British designed allied bomber of World War II.

Only Two Flying in the World
The Avro Lancaster is an exceptionally rare aircraft operated by CWHM, as it’s one of only two Lancasters still flying in the world today!

Very Heavy Bomber
The British Royal Air Force (RAF) Lancaster was the only heavy bomber operated by the RAF that was capable of carrying the 12,000 pound Tallboy bomb and the 22,000 pound Grand Slam bomb.

The Avro Lancaster demonstrates impressive flying characteristics and it earned it’s fame with daring and precise flying missions and raids. The Lancaster was responsible for sinking of the German battleship Tirpitz in November 1944.

Boeing B-29 Superfortress FIFIB-29 “FiFi”
The Boeing B-29 Superfortress “FiFi” promises to be a major star at the Hamilton Air Show.

FiFi is the only B-29 Superfortress still flying in the world today.

The Boeing B-29 Superfortress was the first very heavy bomber built for the United States Army Air Forces. And, the B-29 is well known around the globe for two world changing missions.

Hiroshima and Nagasaki
It was the Boeing B-29 Superfortress that was used for the 1945 atomic bombings of the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in Japan, leading to the end of World War II.

Hamilton Air Show
Last year, the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum hosted the 2011 Hamilton Air Show in preparation for this year’s special and highly anticipated 40th anniversary celebration of CWHM. Vintage war-birds will be featured at the 2012 airshow, but there will also be stunning performances by some of the most advanced and newest jet aircraft.

CF-18 Hornet Jet - Hamilton Air ShowCF-18 Hornet
The CF-18 Hornet Demonstration Team will feature one of the loudest and fastest aircraft at the Hamilton Air Show this year. This Canadian version of the popular F-18 Hornet is recognized by the painted canopy on the bottom side of the jet, and the large spot-light located on the port side of the fuselage.

CF-18 Hornet Video Tour
Watch the CF-18 Hornet Video for an exciting preview of this high energy performance.

CF-18 Paint Scheme
The 2012 CF-18 Hornet Demo Team is proud to feature a custom paint scheme on the aircraft. The tail and dorsal art highlights 13 distinctive snowflakes to represent Canada’s provinces and territories. The 13 snowflakes also represent the 13 wings of the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) located across the country.

Aero Vodochody L-29
The Czechoslovakian built Aero Vodochody L-29 Delfin Jet was the primary Russian jet trainer. This high performance L-29 Jet owned by Martin Mattes of Bandit Airshows will be on static display with many other static aircraft at the Hamilton Air Show.

Martin Mattes
FYI, Martin is a huge fan of Russian aircraft, and when he isn’t flying his L-29 Delfin Jet, he spends time in his Soviet Yak-52 that you may have seen in the popular Resident Evil Afterlife movie!

2012 Hamilton Air Show

Curtiss Wright SB2C HelldiverCurtiss-Wright SB2C Helldiver
The last flying Curtiss-Wright SB2C Helldiver in the world will be at the 2012 Hamilton Air Show!

Among the Vintage Aircraft at the airshow, several are the last flying examples of famous aircraft from aviation history. This show provides a unique and rare opportunity to see some of these few remaining historical aircraft.

The Curtiss-Wright SB2C Helldiver is recognized by its folding wings, that made this Navy bomber perfectly suited for Carrier based operations.

Big-Tailed Beast
Affectionately known as the Big-Tailed Beast, or simply The Beast, the SB2C Helldiver was a dive-bomber with two seats including the rear facing tail-gunner. Watching the SB2C Helldiver in action, is truly a rare opportunity that you do not want to miss.
