Damian Dochev
Damian Atanasov Dochev was recognized as a Finalist in the 2012 Webster Memorial Trophy Competition. Damian successfully competed for the honour of being recognized as one of Canada’s Top Amateur Pilots of 2012.
Representing the Central Ontario Region, Damian earned his place as a regional finalist in the Webster Trophy Competition that recognizes Top Amateur Pilots in Canada every year.
80th Anniversary
2012 was the 80th Anniversary of the Webster Trophy Competition. The Webster Memorial Trophy competition was started back in 1932, in memory of the late John C. Webster who lost his life in an aerobatic flying accident in 1931.

Damian Dochev’s Top Ten Pilot Tips
- Know your personal limitations. Take your experience into consideration.
- Always ask yourself: Where am I going? How will I get there? What am I going to do when I get there?
- Thoroughly plan before your flight. Pre-Planning makes it a lot easier during the flight.
- Being a pilot needs continuous learning. Never stop being a student.
- Always fly as if you had an examiner on board.
- Your reputation doesn’t follow you, it precedes you. Aviation is a small community so maintain a good attitude.
- Always practise good airmanship.
- Remember the safety of yourself, your passengers, and all those around you. Safety is the most important thing when flying.
- Remain professional. Represent the pilot profession commendably.
- Always, Always have fun whenever you are flying!
Passion for Aviation
Damian has a passion for Aviation. His love for aviation goes back as far as he can remember. “Trying to remember when I first wanted to fly is like trying to remember when I had my first glass of water” commented Damian when he was expressing how much he LOVES aviation.
Seneca College
Pilot Damian Dochev just entered his fourth year in the Flight Program at Seneca College in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. As Damian earns his Aviation Technology Degree, he has already obtained his Commercial Pilot License with Multi-Engine Rating.
Flight Instructor Goal
When Damian graduates from the Seneca Aviation Program, he hopes to begin instructing student pilots by becoming a Flight Instructor. His goal is to work for a major air carrier, preferably a regional one, and work his way up to working in the air carrier’s flight training department.

Rewarding Career
Damian looks forward to a rewarding career in aviation, and he would like to fly for a major commercial carrier. He plans on always keeping his Flight Instructor Rating current, to allow him to work as a Flight Instructor. He wants to share his passion, love, and knowledge of aviation with others.
Always wanted to be a Pilot
Damian always wanted to be a Pilot, and he is now one of Canada’s Top Amateur Pilots! Damian was the first in his immediate family to pursue aviation as a career. He knew very little about the aviation industry, and the lifestyle of pilots, but he always knew he wanted to Be A Pilot!
Aviation Career
It wasn’t until High School that Damian began seriously considering a career in aviation. It was then that he decided to enroll in the Seneca College Aviation Program, and now that Damian is in his graduating year, he looks forward to an exciting and rewarding future.
Damian Dochev has already achieved his childhood goal of becoming a pilot, and now he is recognized as one of Canada’s Top Amateur Pilots having been a finalist in the 2012 Webster Memorial Trophy Competition.
