CHTA - Central Helicopter Training AcademyCHTA Fleet
Primary Flight Training is provided on the CHTA Fleet of helicopters. This includes two Robinson R44 helicopters, one Robinson R22 helicopter, and one Bell 206B Jet Ranger helicopter. Additional training and endorsements are also available utilizing their other helicopters including an Eurocopter AS350 A-Star and an AS355 Twin-Star. CHTA has well maintained, current equipment, and highly qualified instructors.

FLYIT Professional Helicopter SimulatorFLYIT Professional Helicopter Simulator
CHTA owns and operates a FLYIT Simulator. This is a two place, side-by-side seating flight training device. The simulator has a cockpit with dual controls and it provides hands-on instruction for hovering and all flight manoeuvring. The complete instrument panel is ideal for both visual and instrument training.

The extreme realism of the FLYIT Professional Helicopter Simulator is ideal for flight training. Student pilots can spend more time flying to train, maintain and enhance their proficiency without the continued cost of expensive helicopter flight time. The simulator is just like a real helicopter! The replica switches and controls are identical size, shape, color and location of those in the real helicopter.

This Advanced Helicopter Flight Simulator provides an accurate flight model including translational lift, ground effect, torque, auto-rotation, and other common flight characteristics. Manufactured by FLYIT Simulators, Inc., this flight simulator may be configured to replicate MD, Bell, Robinson, Enstrom and Schweizer model helicopters.  The FLYIT Professional Helicopter Flight Simulator has been evaluated and approved by Transport Canada as a Level 2 Flight Training Device. Flight time logged in the FLYIT Simulator counts towards your flight instruction hours, and may be used towards the issuance of your Helicopter Pilot rating saving you both time and money.

Robinson R22 Trainer HelicopterRobinson R22 Trainer
This is the world’s most popular Training Helicopter. The Robinson R22 is a two-seat Training Helicopter. It’s small and light weight characteristics make it the ideal entry level training aircraft for aspiring helicopter pilots.

Although this is the ideal way to start your Helicopter Training, please keep in mind the Robinson R22 is basically just a training helicopter. It has little application for commercial flying, with the exception of flight training. The student pilot will need to earn additional hours in larger Helicopter Types to prepare for a career in Helicopter Aviation.

The Robinson R22 offers superior performance, outstanding reliability, and exceptional value. The R22 has been the world’s most popular entry-level helicopter for nearly two decades.

More than 3,600 R22 helicopters have been delivered to more than 60 countries around the globe. The R22 operating costs are one of the lowest in the industry, providing great flight training at the lowest possible cost.

Robinson R44 Trainer HelicopterRobinson R44 Trainer
The four place Robinson R44 is CHTA’s primary flight trainer helicopter. CTHA’s R44 Trainer has a Sageem glass cockpit. The R44 is well recognized as a versatile, capable, and safe helicopter. The R44 is widely used in Canada and throughout the world. The Robinson R44 Helicopter is the world’s top selling helicopter with well over 5,000 in use today.

The R44 is used for training, and also other aviation applications including News and Traffic Helicopters and Police Helicopters. The R44 is a very popular, sleek, four-place helicopter with a proven track record for safety and reliability.

Student Pilots training on the Robinson R22 should consider some flight time in the larger R44 for better career opportunities after graduation. Time in the R44 will be a tremendous asset on your flight training resume, and it’s suggested students become comfortable in this popular aircraft by accumulating at least 10 or more hours in type.

The Robinson R22 and R44 Helicopters are great for Flight Training!

Bell 206B Jet Ranger HelicopterBell 206B Jet Ranger
The Bell 206B Jet Ranger is a five place turbine powered Helicopter. It’s very popular and widely used on multiple mission profiles in Canada and around the world.
