You are also within a short flying distance of the impressive Winnipeg Cityscape where you can often times see commercial airliners on approach to the International Airport.

Morden Airport
The Morden Airport does not have a control tower or extremely busy air traffic. This enables the student pilot to spend more time in the air flying, instead of waiting on the ground waiting for take-off or taxi clearances. However, the Morden Airport is conveniently located within close flying distance to larger and busier controlled airspace. This provides student pilots an excellent opportunity to learn important controlled airspace procedures as they progress in their flight training.

Introductory Discovery Flight

Experience Flight
Start by booking an Experience Flight with Mountain City Aviation to to see if you really want to become a pilot! You will be introduced to the basic requirements for learning to fly. Your Flight Instructor will show you around and walk you through a pre-flight inspection of the aircraft. You will then experience first hand what it is like to sit in the cockpit of an airplane, and your instructor will even let you try some flying once you are in the air.

Discounts
Mountain City Aviation offers discounted Block Time rates when you pre-pay blocks of hours for aircraft rental and flight training. This is a great option for the serious and committed student pilot who wants to save some costs during their flight training.

Mountain City Aviation offers personal one-on-one flight training for students. You flight instructor will guide you through your flight training lessons, and help you pursue your life-long dream of earning your Pilot License.

Picture Yourself in the Cockpit!
Just imagine yourself in the Cockpit of an airplane as you Learn to Fly. Your flight instructor will help you learn and trust all the flight instruments. As a student pilot, you will be especially familiar with the Six Pack of Primary Flight Instruments.

Morden Airport Facilities
Your flight training at Mountain City Aviation will give you access to the Morden Airport facilities. They have a 4,000 foot paved runway and also a well-maintained 2,300 foot grass field.

Grass Strip
As a student pilot, your flight training will include dealing with both soft field and short field take-offs and landings. At the Morden Airport, you will have real flight experience with both. Instead of having to ‘simulate’ a short field or soft field landing or take-off, you can use the Grass Strip Runway to actually experience this type of flight training.

Practice Area
As a student pilot, you will be taught many flight manoeuvres. You will then be given the opportunity to practice them over and over. There is a ‘Practive Area’, clear of built-up or populated areas, where you can practice your flight manoeuvres in a large open area of sky. The Mountain City Aviation Practice Area is close by, enabling students to spend more time perfecting their piloting skills. The Practice Area encompasses a 1,200 square mile area covering the distance from Darlingford to Altona and from Highway 3 to the 49th parallel.

Flyday Fridays
Drop by Mountain City Aviation anytime, but Fridays are special. Every Friday is Flyday Friday.

On Flyday Fridays, many airplanes travel many miles to fly-in and visit Mountain City Aviation. The pilots enjoy the great burgers, steaks and home-baked desserts available at the Morden Flying Club. Flyday Fridays is also a great opportunity to speak with other pilots, and learn more about aviation. Once a month, the Canadian Air Force Pilots also fly in to support Flyday Fridays.

This is one of the younger fleets in the flight training industry, and the different types of aircraft provide variety for your advanced flight training possibilities. The entire aircraft fleet is maintained to the highest standards by Harv’s Air on-staff Aircraft Engineers. Flight Simulator
Harv’s Air has advanced Flight Simulator Training to reduce flight training costs, and help student pilots quickly become proficient. The use of a Flight Simulator will help pilots achieve their goals faster, easier, and with less expense.

Harv’s Air has both the traditional Flight Training Simulator using a stationary (non-motion) configuration, and also the new full-motion flight simulator to make the experience as real and exciting as possible. Either way, pilot training in a flight simulator helps your instructor to set-up very specific flying scenarios for ideal learning.

Flight Simulator time will complement your aircraft time, allowing you to learn faster and more efficiently.

Redbird FMX (Full Motion) Flight Simulator
The newest addition to the Harvs’ Air Flight Training equipment is a Full Motion Flight Simulator. The Redbird FMX Flight Simulator is a high-quality, feature-rich, full-motion simulator. The Redbird FMX is an AATD (Advanced Aviation Training Device) simulator designed and priced for real-world flight training operations. The FMX includes wrap-around visuals in a fully enclosed cockpit. The unique design of the motion platform enables the Redbird FMX to deliver a level of realism that is simply unavailable in other training devices on the market. Your Flight Training at Harv’s Air Service will be greatly enhanced by the availability of this new FMX Flight Simulator!

Discovery Flight
Your discovery flight is your first lesson of your flight training as you begin your journey towards your Recreational or Private Pilot Licence. The discovery flight allows you to experience the feel and excitement of flying an airplane. You will meet the knowledgeable and friendly Harv’s Air staff and enjoy a complete tour of the flight school. Your discovery flight will include an educational and important pre-flight check of the aircraft as you and your instructor complete a safety walk around of the aircraft together. You will then get to fly an airplane! You will be seated in the pilot’s seat, and you will perform the pre-flight checklist, and start-up procedures with the help of your instructor. You will then be shown how to taxi the aircraft as you manoeuvre the aircraft to the runway. Once in the air, you will do most of the flying. Your flight instructor will show you how to manoeuvre the aircraft including turns, climbing, descending and different speeds of flight. You will then return to the airport circuit, and you and your flight instructor will land the aircraft.

Your 1 hour Discovery Flight is divided into three parts:

1. Pre-Flight Briefing
2. 30 Minute Flight experience with a qualified instructor
3. Post-Flight Briefing

Harv’s Air has a wide range of Government Transport Canada approved Pilot Training courses and programs. Flight Training is designed to make you marketable in today’s aviation job market. Ground school is available in a classroom setting, one-to-one, and online. Piloting courses can start at any time, and accelerated flight training is also available. Canada is well recognized for having one of the highest standards in the world for flight training. Your flight training will include spins (dual and solo), advanced stalls, and also emergency
manoeuvre training to help you develop your piloting skills.
