Great War Flying Museum
The Great War Flying Museum (GWFM) is located onsite at the Brampton Airport. The Open House and Fly-In will feature many of the vintage aircraft from GWFM.
GWFM hosts World War I Airplanes and an incredible W.W. I Museum in Brampton, Ontario, Canada. GWFM is Canada’s only Great War flying aircraft museum and it features airplanes, uniforms, medals and much more.
GWFM
Brampton based GWFM was formed in 1970. It’s an all-volunteer group dedicated to recreating the sights, sounds and feel of World War One combat aircraft. GWFM honours the pilots who served with gallantry and distinction during the Great War of 1914 – 1918.
The Great War Flying Museum builds, maintains and flies W.W. I replica and vintage fighter aircraft. You will experience the earliest days of aviation at the Brampton Airport Open House.
Simulated Dog Fights
Don’t miss the simulated Dog Fights and air Combat re-enactments provided by GWFM at the Brampton Flight Centre Open House and Fly-In on Sunday September 12, 2010.
WWI Aviators
Watch W.W. I replica fighter Biplanes and Triplanes flying every half hour at the GWFM Fly-In and Open House at the Brampton Flying Club. These exciting aircraft from an era of aviation nine decades ago will be a truly amazing sight to behold. There will be static displays as well as flying displays to thrill everyone. There will be classic, antique and vintage airplanes flying over the Brampton Airport field for everyone to enjoy.
Amateur Built Aircraft
Amateur Builders will be on hand to share their stories, tips and knowledge. Amateur Built Aircraft are becoming increasingly popular with incredible advances in Kit Planes and composite aircraft. If you are thinking about building your own aircraft, spend some time with others who have already successfully completed and flown their own home-built airplane.
Ask other home builders for guidance on what type of kit to build, and what tools and experience you will need to build your own airplane. Take pictures of finished home built planes, as well as other aircraft projects that are still a work in progress.
Learn To Fly
If you want to Learn to Fly, this is a great opportunity to discuss the path to becoming a pilot. BFC instructors will be on hand to explain what is involved and how to proceed. Discuss costs, time, commitment and knowledge needed to be a Pilot.
Learning to fly is one of the most rewarding pursuits, and many of your questions will be answered on the spot. You may even take a Demo Flight (Familiarization Flight) to see if flying is for you. It’s back to school time, so it’s a great time to Learn to Fly!
