BFC operates over 23 aircraft, and has over 30 instructors. Training aircraft available at BFC include Cessna 172’s and both a Piper Seminole and a Piper Seneca. BFC operates a Cessna Maintenance facility. BFC is Canada’s first and largest Cessna Pilot Centre. It utilizes the world’s first interactive computer based flight training system.

Some of the most beautiful countryside is just to the north of BFC. And, to the south, you find some of the busiest airspace in Canada. The flying is ideal for student pilots looking for nice open landscape, but the more experienced pilot enjoys the opportunities of the big city (Toronto), with one of the busiest air-space environments, only minutes away.

Hello,
I would like to know at what age someone can start to prepare for a private pilot license. My son has always been passionate about airplanes (the fact that I work in the airline industry and that we have travelled numerous times didn’t help!). Recently he has told me he would like to learn to pilot an airplane (when he is old enough) but I have been told by some colleagues at Air Canada that some flying schools start teaching teenagers the theorical part and then, later one, the practicals. Do you have some more details, and can you tell me what are the costs involved?
Thank you
Christine
Flight training may begin very early! At 14 years of age, a Student Pilot Permit is allowed, and by age 17, a Private Pilot Licence is allowed. For a Commercial licence, you will need to be minimum 18 years of age. Check with Transport Canada for current age requirements. Young in age, and young at heart are encouraged to fly.
